Giving Back: The Soul of Philanthropy Reframed – Exhibit Branding
Client: Arkansas Black Philanthropy Collaborative
Recognition: GDUSA’s "Best of 2024" – 61st Graphic Design Awards
Project Overview
I was tasked with developing the visual identity for ABPC’s presentation of Giving Back: The Soul of Philanthropy Reframed, an exhibit hosted at The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. The project involved creating a cohesive look and feel for both print and digital materials, including flyers, banners, social media templates, advertisements, and merchandise.
Concept Development
The design concept was inspired by African-American heritage, incorporating quilt-like color blocking, cultural patterns, and dynamic silhouettes. The goal was to create a bold, expressive visual style that feels culturally rich and engaging.
Design:
I used strong design principles like hierarchy, contrast, and alignment to balance the busy elements—patterns, colors, and silhouettes—while maintaining clarity and cohesion. A consistent color palette, typography, and visual motifs were applied across all assets for a unified look. Canva templates were created for the client to easily produce promotional materials while preserving brand consistency.
Challenges:
The main challenge was finding the right balance between rich, textured visuals and clear communication. With so many bold elements, it was crucial to apply hierarchy and contrast effectively to avoid overwhelming the design while keeping it visually engaging.
I used Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma for precise layout design and scalability, ensuring the design translated well across digital and print formats. The final result is visually striking, cohesive, and culturally authentic.
Execution & Tools
I maintained consistency across all materials by using a defined color palette, typography, and recurring visual motifs, ensuring seamless integration across digital and print assets. I also created Canva templates so the client could easily produce additional promotional materials while maintaining brand consistency.
The project was executed using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma for precise layout design and scalability.
